The best bike rental software takes bookings online with live availability, gets a walk-up line of families out the door in minutes, holds a deposit on card, and knows where every bike, size and e-bike is. For a bike shop that also sells and repairs, it should run the retail counter and the repair stand too, so one customer has one record. Booking-only tools handle the first job well; the differences show up at the counter and in the workshop.
This guide compares nine tools that sell bike rental software: Ribbe, Bike Rental Manager (BRM), Booqable, Checkfront, Indexic, Valet, Reservety, Rentrax and TWICE Commerce. Competitor details come from each vendor's own bike page and pricing page, reviewed in October 2026, and prices appear only where the vendor publishes them.
A bike shop on a summer Saturday has a line at the counter, a guided ride leaving at ten and a repair stand full of customer bikes. Look for these capabilities:
Online booking with live availability. Bikes rented at the counter come off the website straight away.
Fast walk-up check-out. Express screens, pre-signed waivers and barcode or QR scanning keep the line moving at peak hours.
Flexible rates. Hourly, half-day, daily, weekly and seasonal pricing, with overtime for late returns.
Deposits and card on file. A card hold that releases on return, instead of cash or a license left at the desk.
Fleet tracking by serial and size. Frame sizes, kids' bikes, e-bikes and accessories such as helmets, locks and trailers.
Maintenance and repairs. Service history per rental bike and, for bike shops, repair tickets for customer bikes.
Tours and retail. Guided rides, timed tickets and accessory sales on the same register as rentals.

Ribbe is bike rental software with a point of sale and online booking, built for bike rental and tour operators and for retail-first bike shops that rent on the side. Its first customer, in 1998, was a bicycle rental shop in Chicago. Customers book 24/7 through a booking widget or branded booking site, with availability shared live across online, walk-up and partner bookings imported from hotels and tour marketplaces. Rate plans cover hourly, daily, weekly and seasonal pricing, with overtime and pro-rating.
At the counter, express rental screens are built for peak-hour lines, and check-out and check-in take under 60 seconds per rental. Riders sign a QR waiver on their own phone, often before they arrive. Ribbe pre-authorizes cards, releases deposits automatically on return and applies late fees at check-in. Every bike, including e-bikes, is tracked by serial number, size and location, with maintenance records and multi-location transfers. The same rental point of sale sells guided rides and timed tickets, accessories and parts, and the repair shop handles work orders for customer bikes.
Best fit: bike shops that rent, sell, repair and run tours and want one register, one customer record and one set of reports.
Bike Rental Manager, also called bike.rent Manager, is built specifically for bikes and names rental businesses, repair shops, tour operators and fitness centers among its users. Its site lists online and in-store bookings and payments, electronic waivers, bike-level inventory with barcode scanning, kiosk mode, service checklists with full service history, tours, delivery scheduling and multi-language support. Every plan includes rentals, repairs, tours and events, appointments and bike fitting, and ex-rental sales. Plans are priced per year by fleet size and revenue, with multi-location and delivery modules at £250 a year each.
For retail-first shops, Lightspeed's integration directory lists bike.rent Manager for fleets of 20 to 2,000 bikes, with a two-way integration with Lightspeed Retail (R-Series and X-Series) that shares customers, rental tickets and transactions.
Best fit: bike shops already running Lightspeed for retail that want a bike-specific rental and service tool beside it.
Booqable's bike page lists fast order creation for walk-ins, pickups and returns, online bookings with real-time availability, QR barcode scanning, security deposits, seasonal price adjustments, maintenance downtime scheduling, e-bikes managed alongside regular bikes, and accessory tracking for helmets, locks and child seats. Its mobile app supports Tap to Pay and e-signatures, and it offers a website builder plus integrations with WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace, Webflow, WooCommerce and Zapier. A 14-day free trial is offered.
Best fit: small and growing bike rental shops that want a polished online store quickly at a published price.
Checkfront's bike page lists 24/7 online booking, fleet allocation for hourly, daily and multi-day rentals, built-in digital waivers signed at checkout with QR scanning at pickup, payments by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Alipay and iDeal, dynamic and seasonal pricing, four booking widgets and connections to GetYourGuide, Google Things to Do, Expedia and Viator. It mentions guided e-bike tours among the operations it serves.
Best fit: tour-led bike operators who sell a lot through online travel agencies.
Indexic's bike rental page lists 24/7 online booking, a resource calendar, early-return monitoring so a returned bike can be rebooked, delivery and pickup route reports, and photo capture of IDs and equipment. Its POS takes EMV chip, tap and swipe payments with split payments, and its aWaiver product records acknowledgment by audio, video or signature, with an offline kiosk. It also lists two-way texting, dynamic pricing and connections to TripAdvisor, Expedia, Viator, Google, Groupon and GetYourGuide.
Best fit: rental and tour operators in tourist markets who want OTA reach and text-based customer contact.
Valet's bike page centers on a QR code system that links each bike to a customer and booking, and a kiosk mode that turns any connected device into a rental station for walk-ups. It lists maintenance schedules per asset type, emailed waivers, accessories such as helmets, trailers and locks on any booking, seasonal locations with separate inventories, and Stripe for online and in-person payments. Pricing is a per-booking fee with unlimited items, locations and users.
Best fit: seasonal shops that prefer no monthly fee and want self-service check-out.
Reservety's bike rental guide says its concierge team builds the booking website during the 14-day free trial, with the bike catalog, calendars, payments and waivers set up for you. It lists e-bike categories priced separately from standard bikes, helmet, lock and guided tour add-ons, and security deposit holds through Stripe. Its pricing page adds delivery zones, payments through Stripe, PayPal or Square, and an SEO blog on Starter, while Professional adds an in-store POS, smart lock integration, QuickBooks, crew scheduling and a driver dispatch app. It charges no booking commission.
Best fit: bike shops moving online for the first time that want the website done for them, and seasonal shops that like an off-season plan.
Rentrax's bike and scooter page lists e-waivers, group bookings, bundles, maintenance with scheduled checkups and reminders, a mobile app and a multi-location dashboard. For electric fleets it lists battery monitoring, charging schedules and route tracking, and usage monitoring that logs mileage, battery levels or wear. Plans are usage-based and the system picks the lowest plan that matches each month's transactions.
Best fit: e-bike and scooter fleets that want battery and usage logs tied to maintenance.
TWICE Commerce's bike page lists a rental website for gear and tours, phone and on-site orders in one platform, QR kiosk mode, automated waivers and rental agreements, security deposits at checkout, serialized tracking with barcode scanning, inspections with automated buffer times between bookings, holiday and peak-season price tables, and fleets coordinated across several shops or warehouses. Its pricing page covers rentals, resale, subscriptions and buybacks in one system.
Best fit: multi-store operators, especially in Europe, and shops that resell ex-rental bikes or sell bike subscriptions.
Most tools above began as booking engines. A bike shop that sells bikes and parts and runs a workshop has two paths. One is to keep a retail POS and connect a rental tool to it, which is what the BRM and Lightspeed integration does. The other is one system for rentals, retail and repairs, so a customer who rents in June, buys a helmet in July and drops off a bike for a tune-up in August has a single record.
Ribbe takes the second path. Rentals, tours, retail items and add-ons can go on one transaction, and the repair shop tracks repair tickets with parts, labor and notes, customer repair payments and history, and fleet maintenance records, then notifies the customer when the bike is ready. Payments stay connected to reservations, rentals, tickets, repairs and sales. BRM covers repairs and ex-rental sales in its own plans, and Reservety's Professional plan adds an in-store POS, so compare how each handles a mixed ticket at the counter.
E-bikes cost more, need charging between rentals and usually carry a higher rate. When you compare e-bike rental software, check four things:
Battery and charge. Rentrax lists battery monitoring, charging schedules and battery-level logging. Most other bike pages here do not mention battery state, so ask.
Separate rates. Reservety lists e-bike categories with their own rates, and Booqable manages e-bikes alongside regular bikes.
Serial-level tracking. Ribbe, TWICE and BRM track individual bikes, and Valet puts a QR code on each one, so you know which e-bike went out with which rider.
Deposits on card. Ribbe, Booqable, Reservety and TWICE list deposits held or collected at checkout.
Ribbe tracks e-bikes by serial number, size and location like the rest of the fleet and keeps maintenance records with each bike. Its bike page does not list battery-level tracking, so if charge state drives your day, put it on the demo list.

Bike shop that rents, sells and repairs: Ribbe runs all three on one register; BRM pairs with Lightspeed Retail.
Busy walk-up counter: look for express check-out, pre-signed waivers and kiosks. Ribbe lists express screens and check-out under 60 seconds; Valet, TWICE, BRM and Indexic list kiosk modes.
Tour-led operator: Checkfront and Indexic list OTA connections; Ribbe sells tours and timed tickets with capacity, guide assignment and manifests through its tours and tickets tools.
Small shop getting online: compare Booqable's and Reservety's published plans and Valet's per-booking fee.
Several shops or warehouses: Ribbe, TWICE, Rentrax and Valet list multi-location inventory; BRM sells it as an add-on.

Show me a customer who booked online and signed the waiver before arriving.
How do I mark one e-bike out of service, and where is its maintenance history?
Can a rental, a helmet sale and a repair ticket go on the same transaction?
What does it cost at my volume, including card processing and any booking fees?
The best bike rental software is fast at the counter and accurate online: live booking, express check-out, QR waivers, card deposits, hourly to seasonal rates with overtime, and fleet tracking by serial and size. Ribbe adds tours, retail and repairs on the same register. BRM is bike-specific and pairs with Lightspeed, Rentrax lists e-bike battery tools, and Booqable, Reservety and Valet are quick to start online.
Yes. Every tool here lists online booking. With Ribbe, customers reserve through a booking widget on your website or a branded booking site, group and family bookings take several riders and sizes in one reservation, and the QR waiver goes out with the confirmation, so riders sign before they reach the counter. Waivers stay linked to the booking and customer; see digital waivers.
Most tools list e-bikes as a fleet type. Rentrax lists battery monitoring and charging schedules, Reservety lists separate e-bike rates, and Ribbe tracks e-bikes by serial, size and location with maintenance records. Ask each vendor how a service hold blocks a bike from being booked.
Published prices in October 2026 ranged from a 5% per-booking fee with no monthly charge (Valet) to $29/month billed yearly (Booqable), $59/month (Reservety), $99/month plus a 3% online booking fee (Checkfront) and £569 to £2,199 a year (BRM). Ribbe offers Starter, Pro and Multi-Location plans with no required upfront software costs and transaction-based pricing with a monthly minimum that keeps seasonal accounts active in winter; see the pricing page.
